The « Autoworld » car museum is situated in the (south hall) of the Cinquantenaire in Brussels – an imposing building, put up in 1880 to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the Kingdom of Belgium. It was here that the first motor shows in Belgium were organized from 1902 till 1936.

Most of the 250-odd oldtimers on display at Autoworld come from the collection of Ghislain Mahy (who owned over 900). They trace the milestones of motoring history in a spacious layout that lets visitors get up close to the vehicles on show.

But Autoworld is above all the only place in the world to host so many models from the more-than 200 makes of Belgium’s renowned motor manufacturing industry, including names like Minerva, FN, Excelsior, Fondu, Vivinius and Imperia.

The collection is supplemented by permanent exhibitions looking back at the history of motor shows in Belgium, motor design and, soon to come, the history of car racing… Interactive modules have been positioned around the museum to explore the current craft of motor engineering on the theme “Motoring to the Future”.
